Welcome to the Benenden School Trust
Benenden School Trust

Introduction
Benenden is one of Britain’s top public schools. It has educated some 4,500 Benenden Seniors since it was founded in 1923. A great many of these women have used their Benenden education as the base for their own significant contributions to family and society at large, in Britain and around the world.

Benenden has made many improvements over the last 20 years – investing in facilities, widening the curriculum, extending activities outside the classroom, and improving its pastoral care. Its dedicated staff has worked hard to meet the challenges of today’s educational world and the justifiably high expectations of pupils and parents.

The School is aware of the huge benefits a Benenden education brings but now aims to improve its all-round educational offering still further and give more girls the opportunity of having a Benenden education.

Benenden School Trust - seeking your support in 2013

The Benenden School Trust has set out its four priorities for support in 2013
and is now seeking your support across a range of projects.

The Benenden School Trust is enormously grateful for the wonderful generosity of so many parents, Seniors, staff members and other friends of the School in contributing to the work of the Trust. The School would not be the place it is without this commitment and the superb quality of a Benenden education is a direct result of your gifts to the Trust – the most recent results can be seen in the magnificent new Science Centre opened by HRH The Princess Royal last October.

   Trust Award Programme
Enabling many more talented girls from the local community to benefit from a world-class Benenden education irrespective of their families’ financial means
‘Being educated means being free; it means you have the freedom to make your own informed choices and ultimately it allows you the freedom to determine your own path in this world. The Trust Award afforded me a life-changing opportunity. Although a donation to the Award Scheme may not change the world, it could very possibly change the world of the person receiving an Award.’
Bethany Brame, the recipient of the first Trust Sixth Form Award, speaking at the Trust Dinner

Already, students with these awards have made a huge contribution to the academic, social and extra-curricular life of the school. Not only does this create variety among the student body but it is giving talented students from the local community a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to realise their ambitions and dreams.

  Sport
Resurfacing the five courts near Splash: Super Surface Project
All pupils will benefit from new Poraflex all-weather surfacing, the best acrylic, cushioned playing surface on the market. Our expanding programme of competitive team sports fixtures means more girls than ever playing for Benenden.

Music
Providing more pianos and keyboards: Keynote Project
Music at Benenden remains a great success story. Musicians will all benefit from a new grand piano for the Hall, some new practice pianos and electronic keyboards for use in the Houses.
   Seniors’ Bursaries
Supporting a Senior’s daughter in the Sixth Form: Spirit of Seniors (SOS) Campaign
The Trust is also working with the Benenden School Seniors’ Association on the ‘Spirit of Seniors’ – SOS Campaign. The hope is to raise enough funds to support a Senior’s daughter through the Sixth Form to enable Seniors who are parents to consider Benenden as an option in cases where it would not normally have been financially viable. We appreciate greatly all that the BSSA does to support the School.

Unrestricted Gifts
We are also always happy to receive unrestricted gifts which can be directed to educational improvements as the need arises.
