Trust Science Centre Events in 2012
We would be delighted to welcome you to the following Benenden School Trust Science Campaign fundraising events in 2012. Please make a note of the dates in your diary.
Dinner at the Royal Institution, Albemarle Street, London
Saturday 10 March 2012 at 7.00pm
Benenden Parents, Seniors and Grandparents are kindly invited to our pledge evening in aid of the Science Centre taking place at the home of Science, the Royal Institution. We hope to fund a complete laboratory in the new science centre through gifts and pledges received during the evening.
Conveniently situated in central London, the Royal Institution in Albemarle Street is the home of two hundred years of scientific breakthroughs and the ideal venue for the Trust to welcome guests for a wonderful evening to help us create a new science centre for the 21st century.

Our major fundraising event for 2012 will be the Green Scene Ball taking place here at Benenden on Saturday 15 September 2012.
We look forward to welcoming you to a wonderful black tie evening here at Benenden. Our Science Campaign Ball will take place here in a beautiful, rural setting with biodiversity and sustainability at its very heart.
Your ticket will include a champagne reception, followed by a three course dinner – all locally sourced and seasonal produce - with wine. There will be dancing and of course the excitement of competitive silent auction bidding for some wonderful lots, via an electronic bidding system. And all housed in a beautiful marquee situated in the Benenden grounds.

Fundraising at the Ball – Seeking Lots for the Silent Auction
The Green Scene Ball will feature a silent auction of lots, generously donated by the Benenden community. To make that happen, we are launching the appeal for auction prizes and very much hope that the whole Benenden community will come together to support this event and help us reach our fundraising target.
In 2010 the Benenden community donated well over 100 auction prizes – an amazing collective act of generosity by Benenden Parents, Seniors, Grandparents, Students and other Friends of the School. Over £120,000 was raised at the two fundraising events that year – the Quiz Night at Benenden and the Action & Reaction Ball in London. We hope to surpass that total in the next twelve months and therefore we do need your help. Can you please donate to the auction?
We have previously auctioned a wide variety of lots:
- stays in fabulous holiday homes
- signed first editions
- lunch on top of the ‘gherkin’
- spring bulb planting in your garden
- a three-night stay at Skibo Castle
- a week of work experience
- Wimbledon tickets
- signed Jimmy Choo shoes
- a case of Bordeaux
The list goes on… It is often the smaller and more unusual item, and not the most expensive, that creates the most interest. We would be very grateful for any auction items that you would be happy to donate to the Trust for our fundraising events in 2012.
